Rorstrand’s Christmas plate 1979 is in a series that Rorstrand introduced in 1968. Like its predecessors, the theme for this year’s Christmas Plate is that from the wellknown book “Nils Holgersson’s Wonderful Journey in Sweden” by famous Swedish author and Nobel Prize winner Selma Lagerlof.
Nils Holgersson has now arrived at Vastergotland, with its many medieval churches of which Husaby and Varnhem are shown.
Creator of the theme is Gunnar Nylund, former Rorstrand chief designer and wellknown around the world for, among other works, his monumental ceramic reliefs. Underneath signed” G.N. “Gunnar Nylund”. Size: 7.5 inches across. Excellent condition.
